Please add your signature when you add stuff here! (It's the second last icon in the toolbar above the edit window.) That way we can easily use the "Talk" feature etc. to hook up if clarification is needed. --Martin Flink (talk) 06:46, 24 February 2015 (CET)

Glossary I would love to see us add a glossary of terms to the wiki. I know that when I started trying to do the first tutorials I had no idea what, for example, an affine was when it was mentioned. Anyone starting off who may never have tried other fractal or image editing software may not know things like gamma, color speed and so on, affine, post, and so on. Jane Spaulding (talk)

I agree with this! We can link to words while writing or as a separate step afterwards. Andreas or Geoffrey, please setup a Glossary page and explain how we can add or link entries and explanations to it. Excellent suggestion Jane! --Martin Flink (talk) 06:53, 24 February 2015 (CET)

Installation Also, and I think you are working on this Chris, I think it may need to start with how to install Java., then how to install JWildfire.

I've done this already as a tutorial pdf, a fair while back. I will upload the text and images from that asap! I will have to change a number of the images but working on that tonight.. Once done, it can be checked and text updated as needed. --Martin Flink (talk) 07:00, 24 February 2015 (CET)

launcher Add instructions for creating a shortcut for j-wildfire-launcher.jar and adding it to the desktop. A lot of people have no idea of how to run from a command line.

Also previously done, it's included in the above mentioned pdf (link to the original can be found in the Project group on FB (Posted by Geoffrey), if you want to see what's included. --Martin Flink (talk) 07:06, 24 February 2015 (CET)

FAQ Reading question 1 and thinking about the average user, I am worried that this answer is only going to generate more questions for many people. Jwildfire is getting more popular and with a group of people who grew up with point and click computing. They are going to have no clue how to find a task manager let alone how to lower a priority and what setting they should use to do so. I think there needs to be something to point out that task manager is part of their computer operating system and not part of JWildfire. Maybe I am over thinking this, but I know that over the past 3 days I have spent a good deal of time trying to show more than one person how to set up their iflame library because they did not know how to create a directory and copy files into it. Jane, I guess what you are referring to here is that slightly above average computer knowledge, by today's standards, may be required to perform some of the tasks involved with some basic setups of things such as preferences and now iFlames etc.(sad but true). Yes, I believe you are right in this assumption! However, That's one of the things that we will be illustrating, as we go on through this process of creating this manual. I can handle creating a quick "Folders (Directories) for Dummies" page... I can do it with my Windows XP system etc. I think that'll be enough for the Windows users in general. When it comes to the Mac user camp... We may need to ask some Mac user that has a bit of computer understanding to grabs some screen shots etc. for a Mac version of this tutorial for us... If this is needed. --Martin Flink (talk) 15:28, 27 February 2015 (CET)

House Keeping

Consistency is the key here. ie Use JWildfire instead of JWF. If you update the page title, it creates a redirect from the old page. Martin and Andreas can delete these(no need to hurry here). I will create a list here. ---GNBarnes (talk)

Possible Future Editing Interface upgrade? Andreas I was looking at the MediaWiki Visual Editor project, is there a chance that we could use that in the future? Further info: Visual Editor Test Drive: Test Drive Page --Martin Flink (talk) 18:26, 27 February 2015 (CET)
